At Synergy’s 2024 Leadership Forum, members didn’t just discuss leadership—they walked away with actionable plans to implement real change in their companies. We recently followed up with attendees to see how their plans were taking shape. Here’s how four leaders put their insights into motion.

1. Delegating to Lead More Effectively – Darlene Fuentes (Vital Mechanical Service)

Darlene set a goal to delegate more tasks so she could focus on leadership and team development. Since returning from the forum, she has successfully reassigned responsibilities to her team while ensuring follow-ups through 1:1 meetings. This shift has given her the time to onboard and train a new employee, set realistic personal goals, and—perhaps most importantly—step away for a well-earned vacation without her computer.

2. Strengthening Accountability Through Open Communication – Brandon Mangold (A.J. Monier)

Brandon wanted to build a culture of accountability, starting with himself. He took a proactive approach, sending an open letter to his team about his commitment to transparency and mutual accountability. He also developed a structured strategy, including setting clear expectations, active listening, and regular check-ins. His leadership shift has already helped foster a stronger, more engaged team dynamic.

3. Recognizing Team Members and Fostering Engagement – Nick Davis (MSD)

Nick aimed to celebrate employees who exemplify company values while integrating client feedback into team recognition. Since the forum, MSD has completed a full year of its Core Value Award Recipient Program, launched the Spin & Spotlight Program, and connected client surveys with their Net Promoter Score (NPS) displayed on their website. These initiatives have helped reinforce a culture of appreciation, teamwork, and excellence.

4. Empowering Others to Step into Leadership – Chris Baker (Brooks)

Chris recognized the need to shift his focus from technical responsibilities to people leadership. With insights from his Leadership Forum peers, he successfully delegated key technical tasks to newly designated field leads. This change has allowed him to focus on coaching and developing his team while preparing the new leaders to attend Synergy’s next session in March.

Leadership in Action

These four leaders returned from the 2024 Leadership Forum with clear action plans and have already seen positive results. Their success stories highlight how a commitment to leadership development—supported by peer insights and shared accountability—can drive meaningful change in HVAC businesses.
