Synergy members in discussion during the 2025 Executives Forum, sharing leadership ideas and success stories in a commercial HVAC peer group setting
At the 2025 Executives Forum in Carmel, the conversations covered a lot of ground. Members spent time on everything from contract risk and AI to succession planning and what leadership looks like as companies continue to grow. We followed up a few months later to see what people actually did with those ideas.

Josh Wood (Alltek): Getting Back to Basics in a New Role

After stepping into a new leadership role, Josh focused on building relationships with a team that didn’t know his leadership style yet.

He shared his plan with the team early and built a weekly scorecard to keep himself accountable. He also leaned into L10 meetings, making them more useful for the group instead of just another meeting on the calendar.

One of the bigger shifts was simplifying priorities so the team wasn’t trying to do too much at once. That change alone has helped improve collaboration and made the transition into his role feel more steady.

Brian Glynn (Hughes): Creating Space for Input

During the forum, there were several conversations around leadership and influence, especially how leaders either invite input or shut it down without realizing it. Brian made a point to start asking for more feedback and making it clear that people could speak openly, even if their ideas were different. He’s already seeing a shift. More people are offering ideas, and decisions aren’t all flowing through him anymore. It’s still something he’s working on, but the tone of the team is changing.

Steve Harvey (Soefker): Improving Communication with Simple Structure

A lot of what came out of the forum was around communication and how teams stay aligned without overcomplicating things. For Steve, that meant bringing in Steve Thomas to their organization and starting a short weekly managers meeting. Just 30 minutes to talk through jobs, staffing, challenges, and wins. He also began rotating responsibility for internal training so managers are more involved in developing their teams.

Nick Davis (MSD): Putting Structure Around Leadership

Nick and the MSD team took several ideas from the forum and built them into how they operate. They set up regular director meetings, launched a leadership training program with Steve Thomas, and created a way to share leadership tools and resources across the company. They also introduced quarterly core value award videos, where team members nominate each other and leadership recognizes those contributions.
