The 2024 Field Supervisors Forum, held in March, brought together leaders from across the industry to share insights and strategies for improving team dynamics. Here are some success stories from members who attended:

Eric Imrie (Cox Engineering):

Eric has focused on spending more quality time getting to know his newer teams on a personal level. He has made a concerted effort to engage with his techs about their personal lives and hobbies, particularly with the younger members who are starting families. Eric even organized non-work-related activities like golfing and a tech appreciation night with pizza and beer, fostering stronger relationships within the team. These efforts have led to a more cohesive and connected team, and he plans to continue these outings in the future.

Max Arriaga (Phoenix):

Max has committed to keeping an open mind about his team’s needs and having tough conversations when necessary. Since the forum, Max successfully addressed a challenging situation with one of his techs, leading to improved behavior and better teamwork. He continues to work on enhancing communication within his department and with leadership, making steady progress in building a more collaborative work environment.

Tim Imes (CSE):

Tim has been focusing on improving the culture within his branch of CSE. He has embraced what he’s called his, “year of learning,” both from his team and the company, to enhance communication and work efficiency. These efforts have resulted in noticeable improvements in work morale, leading to happier employees and customers. While the exact numbers are still being evaluated, Tim says he’s received positive feedback and there are indications of increased branch profits and reduced overhead. Tim is looking forward to continuing his growth by attending the upcoming Leadership Forum in Florida.

Dan Wittig (JM Brennan):

Dan took proactive steps to mentor later-year apprentices by leading discussions on the business side of construction. He covered topics such as how jobs are bid, types of contracts, and the responsibilities of foremen that aren’t always visible to the crew. This initiative provided apprentices with valuable insights into the broader scope of their work, helping them understand the complexities of the industry and preparing them for future leadership roles.

These stories highlight the dedication and progress of our members as they apply the knowledge and tools gained from the Field Supervisors Forum.  We’re proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing even more positive outcomes in the future!
